MACRINUS COINS

M. Opilius Severus Macrinus was born at Caesarea in Mauretania A.D 164. He accompanied Caracalla in his expedition against Parthians, and was proclaimed Emperor after the death of Caracalla. He conferred the title of Caesar upon his son Diadumenianus. Elagabalus was proclaimed Emperor by the soldiers and Macrinus was put to death after having marched against the usurper.
